Set of 2 antique handmade wooden pigs with brass cladding
This unique set of two handmade pigs is crafted from a wooden core that is entirely clad in thin sheets of brass. The brass cladding is secured with exceptionally fine, hand-hammered brass tacks, a traditional technique that requires great craftsmanship and precision. The subtle seams, the hand-engraved surface and the beautiful patina that has developed over the years give the sculptures an authentic and characterful appearance.
Probably originating from India, where cladding wooden sculptures with brass is a centuries-old craft tradition, these pigs are a splendid example of traditional craftsmanship. The combination of wood, hand-shaped brass sheets and the fine fastening nails creates a rich texture and a warm, weathered appearance.
Together, the two pigs form an atmospheric pair, but individually they are also distinctive decorative objects that fit effortlessly into rustic, minimalist or contemporary interiors alike.
