Mounted sun parakeet. The sun parakeet (Aratinga solstitialis) is a parrot-like bird in the family of parrots of Africa and the New World (Psittacidae). The scientific name of the species was published as Psittacus solstitialis in 1758 by Carl Linnaeus.
