Globe Wernicke bookcases

A perfect copy of the authentic antique Globe Wernicke bookcases made of oak. Consisting of modular sections, a top cover and a drawer, this cabinet represents a pioneering design for the period! Can be expanded in height and width as desired. The height is 222cm with 5 sections and 260cm with 6 sections. The sections are 86cm wide. Otto Wernicke, a German immigrant to America, began producing stackable cabinets in his furniture workshop in 1893. In 1900 his business was acquired by the Globe Files Company, a specialized office furniture company, which led to the creation of the new company called The Globe Wernicke Company. In addition to manufacturing in the United States, these cabinets were also manufactured under license in London. The innovative design of the modular bookcase proved a great success, and Globe Wernicke cabinets became highly sought after, especially in libraries and offices. They enjoyed considerable popularity with law firms, resulting in the nickname "Barrister bookcase.
