This imposing Globe Wernicke bookcase is a splendid example of the characteristic modular bookcase system that became popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The bookcase is constructed from separate, individual units that are stacked on top of one another. This allows the bookcase to be easily dismantled, moved and reassembled as desired.
Each individual section features a glass-fronted door, ensuring that books and collectables remain clearly visible whilst being protected from dust. The warm wood colour, beautiful wood grain and dark metal details give the bookcase its authentic and timeless appearance.
What makes a Globe Wernicke bookcase special is its modular design. The various sections stand independently and are combined with a base and top unit. This system originally made it possible for a bookcase to grow alongside the collection: whenever more storage space was needed, an extra unit could simply be added.
In this spacious version, several units have been combined side by side and on top of one another, creating an impressive bookcase. Despite its substantial size, the bookcase remains relatively practical to transport and install thanks to its separate components.
A distinctive and functional piece of furniture that looks superb in a library, office, living room or both classic and modern interiors. The combination of warm wood, glass and the many books gives the cabinet a distinctly English library feel and plenty of character.
This is an original Globe Wernicke, newly manufactured.
