Fragment of Discophorus.
This partial torso of a discus thrower reproduces a fragment of the original bronze statue, now lost, created by the Greek sculptor Naucydes in the early 4th century BC. A reproduction of the whole statue is on display in the Louvre Museum's galleries.
The bust presented here is a version called "fragment of bronze."
Very elegant oxidized bronze patina.
