Antique wooden decoy duck, a piece of hunting history

A beautiful antique wooden decoy duck with a distinctive character and a splendid, weathered patina. The weathered blue-grey paint, visible signs of wear and its characteristic shape give this duck an authentic look.

Wooden decoy ducks were once used during traditional duck hunting. They were handcrafted and painted to lure wild ducks to a specific spot on the water. Such decoys were used extensively, particularly in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Their natural appearance gave passing ducks the impression that the water was safe.

What was once a practical tool for hunters is now a much-loved collector’s item and a splendid example of traditional folk art.

This unique decoy has retained its charm thanks to its beautiful weathering and authentic patina. A decorative object steeped in history, which looks superb in both a classic interior and a modern, minimalist setting.
